Greg Maloney
Greg Maloney is an immersive experience creator, psychoacoustic composer, and spatial audio designer whose 20-year career spans Hollywood's elite scoring environments and the emerging frontier of therapeutic and installation art. As Score Production Assistant at Hans Zimmer's Remote Control Productions and as Technical Music Supervisor for Danny Elfman across 30+ major films — including Avengers: Age of Ultron, Alice in Wonderland, and Iris for Cirque du Soleil — he developed a command of large-scale sound architecture that now defines his practice.
Today that practice operates at the convergence of data science, ancient cosmological wisdom, and immersive technology. The question driving everything: what does sound unlock in the human body when given the right architecture?
You can close your eyes. You can't close your ears. Hearing has no shutter and no off switch — it runs while you sleep. And sound isn't only a signal the mind decodes; it's a physical wave, moving through tissue and bone. It reaches the body before the thinking mind has a chance to weigh in. You don't decide to hear.
Drawing on twenty years of psychoacoustic craft — the same principles used to carry an emotional arc across two hours of cinema — the work designs audio environments that produce real, physiological shifts: in the nervous system, in consciousness, in how a person inhabits their own body.
The nervous system answers to rhythm before it answers to meaning — a slow, steady pulse settles the body toward calm the same way a slowing heartbeat does; a coordinated sound field pulls scattered attention into focus the way a shared beat pulls a room of dancers into sync. Add the felt weight of low frequency against skin and bone, and sound stops being background. It becomes a direct line to the body's own regulatory systems.
This isn't sound healing as a genre. It's applied acoustic engineering with therapeutic intent. The format serves the experience, and the experience changes the body.
The science of how sound affects the brain, nervous system, and body — applied at production level, not just in theory.
360-degree and three-dimensional sound design — binaural, ambisonics, and immersive formats applied to healing environments, wellness programs, and experiential installation.
Rooms and experiences built to do something specific to the people inside them — not just sound good, but shift state.
Working alongside Trevor Morris and Heitor Pereira at Hans Zimmer's studio in Los Angeles. Training ground for large-scale orchestral scoring and the discipline required to operate at the highest level of the industry.
Seven years managing the complete technical music pipeline across 30+ major film and television productions — from first notes to final mix. A rare role bridging the creative and technical at the highest level of the industry.
The same craft — precision, spatial awareness, the ability to track emotional arcs across time — now applied to immersive wellness environments, therapeutic audio programs, and large-scale experiential art. Where the technical and the transcendent converge.
Current PracticeThe foundation was built inside Hollywood's most demanding audio environments — composing and mix suites, scoring stages and production studios, where standards are set by the films that define culture.
That chapter isn't closed. The same craft that scored for cinema, television, and multimedia now goes into original music written for the nervous system as much as the ear — and into the rooms, pods, and installations designed to carry it.
Where the technical and the transcendent converge.

The therapeutic intent in the work is personal. What Greg designs sound to do for other people, he first had to learn to do for himself: the daily practice, the men's circles he leads through Men's Teams United, the long, unglamorous business of changing, and of continuing to evolve. Two decades of it sit underneath everything on this page.
He also serves as Board Secretary of the Peter & Masha Plotkin Memorial Foundation, which has put over $1.5 million toward arts education for young people. Each board member also directs an annual gift of their own choosing toward that mission — Greg's has gone to Inner City Arts for years running.
